FMLA laws with my doctor vs. my employer?

Im due on the 1st and my employer finally gave me the paper work I needed for the doctor to fill out. Well his assistant said that the 12 weeks would before 6 weeks before the due date and six weeks after. Well if I would of knew that I would of left in the middle of July. She asked me what day i wanted to stop working and I told her the 18 because if Im already limited to only six weeks after she is born. Then I want to leave asap. So no matter what the date the doctor puts down , my employer has to let me stop working on the 18 if thats the date my doctor puts down.

MA Maternity Leave Question – HELP!?

We have an employee who is not covered under federal FMLA guidelines but is, however, covered under Massachussetts Maternity Leave Act (MMLA). Is there a separate form that she should fill out or should we simply use the federal FMLA form? Your advice would be much appreciated.

I feel sorry for the working mothers of America. Many of them do not even know how bad they truly have it. The United States is one of the very few developed countries who does not put regulations on FMLA to give mothers a paid maternity leave.

The norm for most women in America is 12 weeks (unpaid) leave and if it is within that time…you’re job will be held. This is only guaranteed if you work for a larger company. What a sick joke.

Why do you think this is? Greed from companies, the direction the U.S. Feminist Movement went or what? I think all mothers deserve a year of paid time to stay home with your baby without worrying about money. I thought about posting this in Gender Studies but would like to hear what the mothers think.
On the contrary Parental Unit: You are referring to the European Womens Liberation. They were responsible for extended maternity rights. The U.S. Womens Liberation did not even want the term or idea of “Motherhood” mentioned in their arguments. Men and women were suppoosed to be “equal.” How does your argument make sense?

Google European Womens Liberation vs. U.S. Womens Liberation and educate yourself.

FMLA laws for new employees?

I just started my job, it’s a real big hospital more than 50 employees: My question is if I have onle been employed for 4 months and just gave birth; how much leave am I eligible for, I don’t expext to get paid. its just that if I don’t go back to work in two weeks, I am fired. I don’t have a problem going to work, just getting released from my doctor….. (I know I should have waited to get a job but I have a family to support)
