Being too good at your job, workplace jealousy, PLEASE SERIOUS ONLY?
Heres the deal. For the last 4 years I have worked in telephone fundraising, I know not a great deal, but I started when I was 18. After 2 years I was general manager, and in Feb I was fired for backlash on a paycut. Well I went to another fundraising company and I am back selling on the phone, and I am too good at it. I out produce the best veterans in the industry and im 22 years old. They hate this and it is creating a hostile enviornment. There are 2 people that are top producers, and the boss is her boyfriend and the other is her son who is also 22. Long story short, what is the best way to deal with workplace jealousy? Should I be worried for my job because I am far too overqualified? Any input would be great, thanks!

You know, don’t worry about them, because you’re living how you want your life to be, it’s not theirs it’s good that they’re jealous maybe they can learn something from you because you are very good at your job. You will become very very successful if you keep at it. So don’t ever become discourage by those jealousy people. Stay strong and keep doing what your doing and be more great at it!
telephone fundraising . I’m sure you could find another job where they will appreciate you.
Yes , I’d be worried about my job if I was competing with my bosses girlfriend and her son.
People are jealous because, they are either pretending to be competent when they are not, or they are deliberately lazy.
They work hard to bring other people down to their level (instead of putting it into doing a better job).
So what can you do?
1. Find a company that appreciates talent, maybe find work in sales.
2. Start your own fundraising venture.
3. Do your best and not worry about the little people, but don’t be boastful. Be humble, say you are lucky. Go to the others and ask their advice about doing a better job.
4. Be lazy, do a job that is only as good as theirs, and spend the rest of the time on other things (like posting to answers.yahoo.com)
A friend once was harrassed out of a sales job where he was the best salesperson. He was harrassed by the boss who told him he wasn’t doing a good enough job.
Life sucks, but the devil wins when we copy the devil. So be a good person and not worry about such things.
the answer to are you overqualified is probably yes, Do they pay you decent???
I’ve worked in retail for 11+years and i know how it is dealing with insecure losers who breath annoying competition and try to say that you cheated.
with four years of experience with the other employer i wouldn’t worry about being fired, you can always go work soemwhere else.
your boss at the present job needs to understand your benefits, if he doesn’t then HE’S the loser.
You can have a bad day tomorrow, no sales. Then what you gonna do? Already fired from backlash on a paycut before. It can happen again.
