Attacks target activists in Iraqi Kurdistan
29 June 2011 Authorities in Iraq’s Kurdistan region are urged to investigate attacks on those linked to protests calling for political reform. Is my case worth more? Do I have the right lawyer?

I am suing a company because their employee stole my identity. My lawyer is suing for max at district for $8000. I feel this is worth a lot more and my lawyer never gave me any prices as to how much he costs or how much he would take of the winnings. I never signed a contract or anything with my lawyer. He only asked for $150 to file. Am I going about this the wrong way? Is this worth more? Is my lawyer in the wrong for not quoting me any amount of money? Please Help!
The damage that was done, was not only to my credit report, but I’m listed as having many evictions, even though I have never had one in my life. I can’t find any way to take the fraud evictions off, so my lawyer told me that this is what needs to be done and the company has to fix everything. Can I switch my lawyer?

How can I get an Employment lawyer S. FL without retainer $$?

I have called numerous firms in my area. I have a definate good case as found by EEOC and Florida Commission on Human Rights. I have filed case Pro Se, and it was later closed. I really need an employment lawyer for discrimination case, and can’t get help thru Florida Bar or Legal Aid- they don’t do this type. All other require minimum $5k retainer for case. I’m not looking for any attorneys to call me and go over case details, but some concrete direction on how to access justice. Thank you.

What are my rights as a NY state employee, according to minimum wage laws?

I just got a job (that I haven’t started working at yet) at a candy counter in a mall, and I was just sent an email concerning my hours and it said that I am to be paid 6 dollars an hour. I know that in New York state the minimum wage is 7.25, and from the government website it looked to me like the only exceptions that would allow it to drop from that are if I’m under 17 (I’m 18, and I told my employer that) or working on a family farm (again, doesn’t apply) or going to be getting tips (which I’m not). Am I missing some other exception, or am I getting cheated? I’m going to be one of only about 5 employees, so I’m going to be getting a TON of hours, and that buck twenty-five is going to add up *very* quickly.

And if my employer *is* giving me less money that he ought to, what am I supposed to do about it? It’s not like I can get a lawyer, and somehow I don’t think there’s a ‘candy-counter-workers’ union. I’ll be starting college in September, so I really need the money. I’ve been job-searching for months with no luck, so I’m pretty sure that if I don’t take this job I won’t be able to find another one. Help!

Do US naturalized citizens have the same rights as US born citizens?

My mother, a naturalized citizen, was told yesterday that she did not have the same rights as a US born-citizen. She has continuously lived in the US for over 30 years, paid her taxes, great employee and model citizen. She was recently a victim of fraud by a realtor and a title company when she bought a house. She sought legal representation and the lawyer she contracted is telling her that she will have limitations in her law suite because she is a naturalized citizen.

Where can I research the topic?

I need a lawyer to look into my rights to work benefits (like health insurance and vacation pay) in the state of California.
This would be in Southern California- Ventura County.

My husband had a job. He was fired. He was not told why. NOW they are blocking him from getting another job. We have been told this in plain english today Straight from the horses mouth so to speak.
I thought that a person could not be blacklisted or thrown under the bus. Who can we talk to; with no money for a lawyer, to get help to correct this?
