I was sitting at work in a “sexual harassment in the workplace” workshop when this question came to mind. And what about “adult” shops?
In response to Sergio Mendes, no i don’t expect anyone to have done empirical research into the workings of porn shops. And the only reason i thought about porn companies is because at the time the presenter was discussing pornographic material on company computers.

I’ve been employed with a Security Company for over 5 years. This company has contracts with two companies and they send security officers to their sites. I was employed to work on one of the company’s sites. The company (who contracted my Employer, the Security Company) had false rumours and allegations about me which are untrue and weren’t proven, so they decided that they don’t want me on their sites. The Security Company, who I was employed with offered me a job at the other company but I didn’t have the necessary qualifications. Then they gave me 5 weeks notice pay in lieu and they dismissed me – as a result of this dismissal I cannot work as a Security Officer any more. Shouldn’t this be Redundancy, not dismissal? Isn’t that common sense as they tried to offer me another job on another site and didn’t have any other jobs for me?

FMLA only covers companies and employess where there are over 50 employees. I work for a small doctors office with only 5 of us.

I work for a large retail pharmacy. I have a pharmacist that constantly talks bad about me to my fellow co-workers. She is nice to my face. I confronted her and she just tried to back peddle her way out of it. I asked my boss, who is hers as well, to please talk with her about it and ask her to please stop gossiping about me. My boss is not good with confrontation and i’m not sure that he will or has done this. The biggest problem i have is that she talks about me to other employees and i feel that since she is a management position that this is not right. I have had personal problems in my life recently and this is what she chooses to talk about and seemingly judge me for. I am a great employee….i have been with this company for 10 years……i work hard….stay late…and am at the top of my game. Even she can’t deny that. I am also a union employee. I wanted to get some input from un-biast people on what I should do? A lawyer told me that this was a hostile work place?
