What are the steps to take to file workplace harassment in Kansas?

What happened was I am(was) in telemarketing and I was working, and we were having a discussion about my past, and I decided, hey that’s not a question I would like to answer, so I said that. So I was harassed with this question and then she asked again me and other employees why I was in trouble with police in school long story short I’m not going to say, but it came out from another employee and I felt taunted by the supervisor’s repeating of this non-work related reason back at me. To change the subject I threatened the employer with a gun (still punching myself in the face, but I was livid), but I know for a fact, that in Kansas, a spoken threat face to face is in no way a crime. I know because I tried to pursue a threat towards me once, I’m not saying it wasn’t the stupidest thing I’ve ever done, I’m just saying it’s not a crime. This ended the discussion, but after work, the supervisor had to get in a last word, and came outside to where we were just smoking our after-work cigarette, which usually does not happen, and started words with me. I said nothing back. and that was the end of day 1.

Two days later on my next scheduled hours, I was logging in to the system and asked to get off of the sales floor and go into the conference room. As I was sitting down, I see a police truck pull up through the window. Soon the police and two supervisors show up. I am informed of the situation, but the previous harassment was left out of both the police report my employer filed and the employee termination forms. I was fired and now I would like to go after workplace harassment because that is what caused me(of course, not entirely, but in today’s society…) to say the things I said.

So long story short, who do I call, what do I say, what other steps should I use? Should I try to find an attorney, or should I take this on my own? I do not have any real court experience other than watching Judge Judy on RARE occasions.

How to combat a hostile workplace?

My daughter works for a mother and daughter team in an investment firm as their Office Assistant, and the daughter is verbally abusing my daughter not just with sarcasm, but with foul language. Things have escalated to the point where my daughter hates her job, but she’s been there for a year. What are her rights? How does she deal with this?

Does misandry constitute a hostile workplace?

Not too long ago I got to hear a diatribe by my director superior — who’s female — during work hours, out loud, and in front of anyone, about how men are pigs and are only interested in one thing, as well as many other disparaging comments about the male gender.

Perhaps the greatest problem with this situation is 90% of her subordinates — including myself — are male. I’m sure chauvinism and misogyny constitute a hostile workplace, but I was wondering if the same goes for an outward hatred of men by a woman in a superior role.
